'Drinking Pals and Firefighting Gals' published at Somesuch Stories
This week Tyler has had a new short story published online, over at Somesuch Stories - a brilliant website of fiction, essays, and all-around creative content, curated and edited by freelancer Soze Olbrich. Their winter theme has been 'desire' in all shapes and forms, and Tyler's take on the topic depicts a group of friends and colleagues (the 'pals' and 'gals' of the title) who are on a jetboat adventure experience for a stag party. A grim accident acts as catalyst to reveal the tangled backstories of the groom, the narrator, and the other characters:
So, there we were, tearing round bends, wind clawing at our hair, shrieking like cats in heat, and after each turn we’d look at each other and laugh, like – that was a good one, right? Only then, after one of those turns, somebody’s gone. Just, gone. Quick head count confirms that: one, two, three, four, five – there’s only five of us. Who's missing?
This one's not for the squeamish, but if you're intrigued the story - and other wonderful works - can be read at the Somesuch website. So mosy on over and to find out what happens!
